Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach: Where Retirement Feels Like a Permanent Vacation

If you’ve spent any time reading Pags on the Go, you’ve probably figured something out about me.

    I love Margaritaville.

    I love tropical destinations.

I love places where flip-flops are perfectly acceptable, live music fills the air, and nobody seems to be in much of a hurry.

So when we had the opportunity to visit friends at Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach, I couldn’t wait to see what all the excitement was about.

I left wishing I was just a little older.

This Isn’t What You Think of When You Hear “55+ Community”

    Let’s be honest.

When most people hear the words active adult community, they picture quiet streets, beige buildings, and everyone heading inside by 7:00 PM.

Latitude Margaritaville completely destroys that stereotype.

    This isn’t just a neighborhood.

    It’s a lifestyle.

The entire community feels like someone took a tropical resort, mixed it with Jimmy Buffett’s music, and somehow turned it into a place people actually get to call home.

Everywhere you look there’s color, palm trees, music, golf carts, smiling faces, and people genuinely enjoying life.

    Living the Margaritaville Lifestyle

What impressed me most wasn’t just the beautiful homes or the incredible amenities.

    It was the people.

Everyone seemed to know one another.

    People stopped to chat.

    Neighbors gathered around the pools.

    Friends met for lunch.

Golf carts rolled through the community with music playing.

There’s a real sense of community that you don’t often see anymore.

I think part of that comes from everyone sharing a similar mindset.

    They’re Jimmy Buffett fans.

    They enjoy the tropical lifestyle.

They’re there because they want to enjoy this season of life instead of simply living through it.

    That creates something special.

The Amenities Feel Like a Resort

The Town Center is the heartbeat of the community.

There’s live entertainment, restaurants, bars, a massive resort-style pool, fitness center, pickleball courts, theaters, and gathering places that constantly keep the community active. Residents can enjoy the Latitude Bar & Chill Restaurant, the Paradise Pool, Changes in Attitude poolside bar, the Last Mango Theater, Fins Up! Fitness Center, and even a private beach club with shuttle service to the Atlantic Ocean.

Walking around, it honestly felt less like a neighborhood and more like being on vacation.

    You can grab lunch.

    Order a Cheeseburger in Paradise.

    Relax by the pool.

    Listen to live music.

    Meet friends for drinks.

Then do it all again tomorrow.

    The Party Never Really Stops

One thing I noticed during our visit was the energy.

There always seemed to be something happening.

    People were swimming.

    Bands were playing.

    Friends were laughing.

    Golf carts were everywhere.

    The pools were full.

    Restaurants were busy.

The entire community has this relaxed, upbeat atmosphere that makes you want to stay outside and enjoy every minute of the day.

It’s difficult not to smile while you’re there.

We spent most of the afternoon by the Paradise Pool, and it didn’t take long before it felt like we’d been on vacation for days

    Beautiful Homes, Beautiful Community

    The homes themselves are gorgeous.

    Island-inspired architecture.

    Bright colors.

    Inviting front porches.

    Beautiful landscaping.

Everything feels intentionally designed to make you feel like you’ve escaped to paradise.

Even driving through the neighborhoods is enjoyable because everything is so well maintained.

    Who Is This Community For?

If you’re under 55 like I am, you’ll probably leave wishing time would speed up just a little.

Unfortunately, I can’t move there yet.

But after spending time there, I absolutely understand why so many people do.

If you’re looking for a place where retirement means slowing down, this probably isn’t it.

If you’re looking for a place where retirement means finally having time to enjoy life, Latitude Margaritaville is worth putting on your list.

    My Recommendation

Even if you aren’t looking to move today, I think Latitude Margaritaville is worth visiting if you have the opportunity.

    Spend time with friends.

    Tour the community.

    Grab lunch.

    Walk around.

    Take in the atmosphere.

You’ll quickly understand why people fall in love with this place.

    It’s more than a development.

It’s a community built around fun, friendship, music, and living life a little more like you’re on vacation every single day.

    Pags on the Go Rating

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

Latitude Margaritaville completely changed what I thought a 55+ community could be. It’s vibrant, welcoming, beautiful, and full of people who genuinely seem to enjoy life. If you’re a Jimmy Buffett fan, or simply someone who loves a tropical, resort-style lifestyle, this place absolutely deserves a visit.

    Fins Up!

  • Paddleboarding Hollywood’s Hidden Mangrove Trails: One of My Favorite Florida Experiences

Paddleboarding Hollywood’s Hidden Mangrove Trails: One of My Favorite Florida Experiences

Paddleboarding Hollywood’s Hidden Mangrove Trails: One of My Favorite Florida Experiences

    Category: Places

There are some travel experiences that don’t require a theme park ticket, a luxury excursion, or a long drive. Sometimes, all you need is a paddleboard, a few hours, and a beautiful stretch of water.

If you’re staying at the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort, or anywhere around Hollywood Beach, do yourself a favor and spend an afternoon with Waterway Adventures, located just across the street from the resort.

It ended up being one of the highlights of our trip.

An Easy Place to Get Started

Whether you’ve paddleboarded dozens of times or have never stepped on one before, this is an excellent place to learn.

The staff is incredibly friendly, and the gentleman running the operation, Sean, takes the time to explain everything before you head out. There was never any pressure to rush. He walked us through the basics, answered every question we had, and made sure we were comfortable before pushing off.

One of the fun surprises was discovering that Sean has ties back to my neck of the woods. His business partner operates a paddleboarding company along the Jersey Shore, so we ended up talking about New Jersey almost as much as paddleboarding. It’s those little conversations that make an experience feel more personal instead of just another tourist attraction. By the time we headed out on the water, it felt like we were getting recommendations from a local friend rather than simply renting equipment.

The rental includes the board, paddle, safety equipment, and even a map showing several different routes you can explore. If you want to pack drinks or lunch, there are places to secure a cooler right on the board, which makes the trip even better.

    The Only Challenging Part

The beginning of the paddle is probably the most intimidating section.

You’ll leave the dock on North Lake, then paddle through a relatively narrow channel that connects North Lake with West Lake.

Between the current and occasional boat traffic, that short crossing can make first-timers a little nervous.

    Don’t let it discourage you.

Once you make it through that connector and enter the mangrove preserve surrounding West Lake, everything changes.

    The water becomes calm.

    The scenery becomes quiet.

Suddenly you’re surrounded by mangroves instead of buildings, and it feels like you’ve escaped the busy beach entirely.

One of the Best Beginner Paddleboarding Spots I’ve Found

This is what impressed me the most.

The protected mangrove waterways create incredibly calm conditions, making them perfect for learning balance, practicing turns, or simply enjoying the ride without constantly fighting waves.

Even if you’ve never been on a paddleboard before, this is about as forgiving an environment as you’re going to find.

And if you’re already comfortable on a board, it’s simply a beautiful place to spend a few relaxing hours.

As we paddled through the mangroves, we found ourselves stopping more than once just to soak it all in. The water was still, the scenery was incredible, and there wasn’t any rush to get anywhere. It reminded me that some of the best travel experiences aren’t about doing more, they’re about slowing down enough to appreciate where you are.

    Bring Lunch and Slow Down

One of my favorite parts of the day was how unhurried everything felt.

Bring a small cooler with sandwiches, snacks, or your favorite drinks.

    Find a quiet spot.

Take a break on your paddleboard.

    Enjoy the sunshine.

    Watch for wildlife.

Then continue exploring whenever you’re ready.

Travel doesn’t always have to be about checking attractions off a list. Sometimes the best memories come from slowing down.

    My Recommendation

If you’re staying at the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort, this is an easy recommendation because it’s literally across the street.

Even if you’re staying elsewhere in Hollywood or Fort Lauderdale, I’d still make the drive.

Between the friendly instruction, well-maintained equipment, peaceful mangrove trails, and relaxing atmosphere, this turned into one of my favorite experiences in the area.

It’s the kind of outing that’s fun whether you’re traveling as a couple, with friends, or flying solo.

If you’re looking for something different than another afternoon on the beach, rent a paddleboard, pack a cooler, and spend a few hours exploring Hollywood’s hidden waterways. I think you’ll leave feeling exactly the way we did: relaxed, refreshed, and already thinking about coming back.

    Pags on the Go Rating

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

Waterway Adventures is one of those places that quietly exceeds expectations. Great people, beautiful scenery, and an experience that’s accessible for beginners while still being enjoyable for experienced paddlers. It’s an easy recommendation and one I’d absolutely do again.

  • Sheraton Vistana Resort Villas Lake Buena Vista Review: One of My Favorite Places to Stay Near Disney

Sheraton Vistana Resort Villas Lake Buena Vista Review: One of My Favorite Places to Stay Near Disney

Sheraton Vistana Resort Villas Lake Buena Vista Review: One of My Favorite Places to Stay Near Disney

There are hotels that simply give you a place to sleep.

Then there are hotels that become part of your vacation.

The Sheraton Vistana Resort Villas Lake Buena Vista falls squarely into the second category.

I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels around Orlando over the years, but this one checks just about every box for me. Palm trees, tropical landscaping, multiple pools, spacious villa accommodations, and a location that’s close enough to everything without feeling crowded.

If you know me, you already know you had me at “Florida.”

    First Impressions

From the moment you pull onto the property, it feels like you’re arriving at a tropical resort instead of another hotel.

The entrance is beautifully landscaped, palm trees line the roads, fountains greet you as you arrive, and the grounds are immaculately maintained.

Everything immediately says, “Vacation starts now.”

That first impression never faded during my stay.

    The Villa

This is where the Sheraton Vistana really separates itself from a traditional hotel.

Instead of a standard room, I stayed in one of the resort’s villas, and it felt much more like a small apartment than a hotel room.

The separate bedroom gave me plenty of privacy, while the living room provided a comfortable place to relax after a day out. Everything was clean, modern, and very well maintained.

The Kitchen Is a Game Changer

If you’ve read my travel articles before, you know I love having a kitchen when I travel.

This villa had exactly what I look for.

    A full-size refrigerator.

    A full kitchen.

    Real counter space.

The ability to cook my own meals instead of eating out every single day.

Not only does that save money, but it also lets me stick to healthier eating while I’m on the road. That’s something I really appreciate when I’m traveling for several days.

For me, this alone makes the Sheraton Vistana worth considering.

    The Balcony

One of my favorite moments during the trip was simply sitting on the balcony.

The view overlooked water, trees, and beautifully landscaped grounds that made it easy to forget you were just minutes away from some of the busiest attractions in the country.

Sometimes the best part of a vacation isn’t running from attraction to attraction.

Sometimes it’s sitting outside with a cup of coffee and enjoying the view.

    The Resort

The pools are exactly what you’d hope for in an Orlando resort.

    Palm trees.

    Waterfalls.

    Plenty of seating.

    Beautiful tropical landscaping.

Everywhere you look, it feels like a Florida vacation should.

The grounds are large enough that you can take a relaxing walk without ever leaving the property, and everything is exceptionally well cared for.

    Location

The location couldn’t be much better.

You’re just minutes from Walt Disney World, Disney Springs, shopping, restaurants, and practically anything else you’d want during an Orlando vacation.

It’s close to the action without feeling like you’re right in the middle of it.

    Would I Stay Here Again?

    Absolutely.

In fact, I’d actively look to book here again.

Between the villa layout, the full kitchen, the beautiful tropical grounds, and the outstanding location, this has become one of my favorite places to stay in the Orlando area.

Whether you’re visiting Disney, Universal, or simply looking for a relaxing Florida getaway, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

    My Rating

    Room: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

    Comfort: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

    Amenities: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

    Location: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

    Value: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

    Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

    Pags on the Go Take

I’m a sucker for tropical resorts, so maybe I’m a little biased.

    But this place earned it.

The combination of spacious villas, a full kitchen, gorgeous pools, lush landscaping, and an unbeatable Orlando location makes the Sheraton Vistana Resort one I’d recommend without hesitation.

If you’re the type of traveler who likes a little more space than a typical hotel room, enjoys cooking a few meals, and wants to feel like you’re actually on vacation, this property delivers.
